These pieces are made for Rosena Sammi by women in Jaffna who survived the brutal thirty-year Sri Lankan civil war only to face grave hardship. With husbands either murdered or missing, they are left to raise their families while tackling the challenges of poverty, abuse, mental health trauma and marginalization. By purchasing a scrunchie you are empowering a women to rebuild a better life for her and her family. We partnered with the NGO Sari Connect to bring you these playful pieces, which are fashioned from recycled saris donated from all over Sri Lanka.
All pieces are unique and colors and patterns will vary as these styles use recycled saris.
